
We’re not in Arden anymore…
During this project, I served as the sole UX/UI designer, responsible for defining the visual style and building a component library tailored to the game’s Arcane Horror theme. I redesigned core gameplay assets and worked closely with the art director to establish Shadowstone’s distinct look and feel. Designing primarily for PC, I refined gameplay and user experiences to improve clarity and usability while thoughtfully reusing familiar patterns and functionality to create an experience that felt both fresh and cohesive.

Shadowstone is a tactics roguelite game for 1-4 players that touches on the darker side of the world of Sunderfolk. Teams must master strategic positioning, tactical gameplay, and hero synergies to survive the horrors of the Sunderlands.
Shadowstone’s Arcane Horror theme was reinterpreted as a Gothic Curse UI style. The interface is built around three core visual pillars skeletal, decay, and language. This is expressed through sharp shape language, dead foliage, traditional typography, and ancient iconography. Together, these elements reinforce the game’s dark atmosphere while maintaining clarity and usability across the UI.
